What’s Changing in Business Central?
We already wrote about the planned updates back in July, when Microsoft published the roadmap. Now, all these features are available in user environments. This update introduces a comprehensive use of artificial intelligence in ERP – from sales and finance to customer service and reporting.
Sales Order Agent
An agent that supports the sales department by automating the handling of quotes and orders. It can read customer emails, create quotes, recognize delivery addresses, suggest alternative delivery dates, and follow natural language instructions. As a result, the sales team can respond faster to customer needs and shorten order processing times.
Payables Agent
Automates the processing of purchase invoices – from reading the invoice in an email to creating the document in the system. It classifies expenses, uses purchase history, and allows the accounting team to maintain full control over the process. This helps reduce errors and accelerate the work of financial departments.
Case Management Agent
An agent that supports customer case and ticket handling, improving communication and problem resolution. It helps service teams respond faster, prioritize requests, and maintain a high level of customer service.
Contextual Search
The improved search engine in Business Central allows users to find data, features, and documents faster by using the context of their work. This means less time spent navigating and more time completing tasks.
What’s Next?
Of course, these are not all the features introduced in Release Wave 2 (2025). Never before has a single update included so many AI-powered capabilities – covering everything from sales and finance to reporting. In the coming weeks, we will take a closer look at new functionalities in the areas of:
- Copilot summaries – intelligent data summaries and analytics
- Shopify integration – automation of order and inventory flows
- E-documents and e-invoices – full digitization of documentation
- Environment and data security – new management and stability options
- Analytics and reporting – new reports, improved Power BI, and Copilot support in Excel
